Petrobras is Brazil's most profitable company in Latin America

The Brazilian company's oil and gas Petrobras was ahead of other Latin American companies in terms of gains in the second quarter of 2009, reported the consultancy Economática cited by local media today.
Between April and July 2009, Petrobras generated a net profit of 3.96 billion dollars, the highest score among Latin American companies listed on stock exchanges.

In second place was the Mexican telecommunications company America Movil, with a net profit of 1.7 billion dollars. From the third to the ninth position is again led by Brazilian companies Itaú, Unibanco bank groups (U.S. $ 1,300 million), Banco do Brasil (U.S. $ 1,200 million) and Bradesco (U.S. $ 1,170 million).
